Hello from Nonna Anne’s Kitchen!
If you stepped into my kitchen this week, you might have thought you’d been transported to a blooming field in Provence rather than a cozy home bakery in New York. The air was absolutely hypnotic with the scent of our latest batch: Lavender Muffins.
As a NYS certified home bakery, I take such joy in the small, sensory details of baking. This week, I’ve been busy preparing these floral gems for one of our wonderful retail partners. There is something truly therapeutic about working with lavender; it’s a scent that calms the soul and clears the mind.
A Sign of the Seasons
While I was folding the delicate lavender buds into the batter, it hit me...the heavy, cozy scents of cinnamon and nutmeg that defined my winter baking are starting to step aside. These muffins were a gentle, fragrant reminder that winter is finally losing its grip.
With every tray that came out of the oven, I felt that familiar spark of excitement. Spring is practically knocking on the door, and summer, with all its vibrant berries and garden-fresh herbs is just around the corner.
Why We Love These Muffins
The Aroma: They turn any breakfast into a "spa-like" experience.
The Flavor: Subtle, floral, and perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness.
The Vibe: They are the perfect "bridge" treat: light enough for a sunny morning, but comforting enough for those last few chilly New York evenings.
Where to Find Them
Keep an eye out at our local retail partner's shop this week to snag a few for yourself! They pair beautifully with a hot cup of Earl Grey or even a light honey-drizzled yogurt.
As the ground begins to thaw and the days get longer, I’m already dreaming up new recipes inspired by the upcoming blooms. I can't wait to share them all with you.
What flavors make you think of spring? Let me know in the comments; I’m always looking for new inspiration for the oven!
With love and flour,
Nonna Anne
